In steeds meer situaties krijgen we te maken met Artificial Intelligence. Is dat iets wat ons overkomt, of kunnen we ook een actieve rol spelen? Kunnen we kiezen hoe we AI toelaten in ons eigen leven? Kunnen we er zelfs iets mee in onze kunst-praktijk? Of is dat het domein waar van specialisten? Nee, tegenwoordig zijn er uiterst eenvoudige en toegankelijke tools. En het is bovendien zelfs noodzakelijk dat er ook buiten de techniek-sector met kunstmatige intelligentie geëxperimenteerd wordt. Dankzij AI kunstprojecten ontstaan nieuwe inzichten en krijgen we een beter beeld van de mogelijkheden en onmogelijkheden. En dat is belangrijk omdat het gaat over een techniek die een steeds grotere maatschappelijke impact heeft. Dat betekent dat de verkenning wel een stap verder moet gaan dan de vraag of AI schilder-algoritmes goede kunst opleveren. In een levendige en beeldende presentatie zal ‘creative coder’ Sander Veenhof schetsen op welke manieren AI en kunst wat aan elkaar kunnen hebben.

Sinds de massale inburgering van de smartphone beleven we de stad met een digitaal oog, met apps als wegwijzer, als restaurantgids of als taxi-besteldienst. Zodra we ergens moeten wachten, staren we naar Facebook. Kunnen we die parallelle wereld ook iets minder functioneel of doelloos maken? Daar kunnen de podiumkunsten een rol in spelen! Met apps die een verhalende beleving bieden, die niet individueel maar tezamen met anderen ervaren kan worden. Heel de stad kan een podium worden zodra dialoogteksten op je smartphone verschijnen en je te midden van virtuele decorstukken staat, die via een augmented reality (AR) app verschijnen. Want met AR kan tegenwoordig veel meer dan een 3D-animatie op een plat vlak laten verschijnen, eindeloos veel meer. Een volledig virtueel festival? Amsterdam-Noord had de primeur. Nieuwe technieken bieden de podiumkunsten opmerkelijke kansen om aansluiting te vinden bij het altijd en overal aanwezige ‘smartphone publiek’ anno nu.
Levert op:
Aan de hand van korte videofragmenten en zonder technisch te worden, licht ik in deze sessie toe wat de mogelijkheden én de succesfactoren zijn bij het produceren van theatrale interactieve ervaringen, waar publiek via de smartphone toegang toe heeft.
